I'm gonna be a referee. That's an easy outfit to wear here at work.

My neighborhood does not have trick or treating. I always buy a bag of small candy bars just in case, and always enjoy them myself over the first couple of weeks in November.

When I was a kid the streets were packed with trick or treaters.
Now, we are lucky if we get a few groups. My mom says the same-the same neighborhood I grew up in.

They go to the mall where the stores give out candy.

No costume for me. We get 6-8 trick or treaters here. I have candy out of sight.

I'm dressing as a former NFL player (same last name) which I did last year. Last year was my first party in years and I have a shirt with the last name on it.

I hate Halloween. My husband gives out treats - but we're lucky to get 6-8 kids here.

We haven't had any trick-or-treaters the past several years.  We always buy some treats, just in case, but end up eating them ourselves.  Most kids out in the county where we are seem to go to a church-sponsored event instead of house-to-house.  In town, tho, it's a different story.  One of our friends who lives in town will get between 500 to 700 kids on Halloween night.  Glad we don't live in town!

I used to live in a nice neighborhood of 1/2 acre lots. People would drive their kids from all over to our neighborhood to trick-or-treat. Now I'm out in the country - a target-poor environment for the kids!

We have a "Recovery Trick or Treat" at work tomorrow. We all supposed to dress up and present info on our programs to the Veterans, along with treats, of course. Basically, people just come for the treats. I am boycotting it this year. I prepared the handouts, candy with little notes of how to ask for my program, Intensive Casemanagement. That's it. I can't handle all the treats. I know, I am a wienee. Rolling Eyes

IMO, there was a wave of "razor blade in the candy" stories some years back, which seems to have put a damper on neighborhood trick-or-treating.

My sister lives in town, she still gets several hindred.  My daughter is taking the grand to a neighborhood for a few houses.  He is a fireman.  Let me try to post a picture of his visit to Kellogg's.

My brain can't do it tonight.... Good grief.

We might get 25. I love giving out candy and tried buying bigger bars but it's all small stuff. As to what happened to all the kids from years ago, I think it's parents. When we were little we went out in groups no adults for hours. In this day and age parents (including me when my kids were younger) insist on going with them.

That's true. I remember going from house to house with four or five friends (and we each had a pillow case to collect our booty) while Mom and Dad stayed at home giving out candy. When our boys were old enough for their turn, we went with them.

My grandson is in a killer whale phase. The closest his parents could come was a great white shark costume. We hope he will believe it's an albino orca!

There must be something going around; GS#2 is fascinated by sharks.  He wanted a 'shark cake' for his birthday, and his Halloween costume is a shark.  Here's a picture of the cake his mother made.  He wouldn't model his costume for us, so no pics of that until after Halloween.

That was back when I was trick or treating.
Some nut job put a razor in an apple and the kid bit into it and found it. he didn't get hurt.
No kids were allowed to have apples, and no one handed them out after that.

I took my kids trick or treating, and like all other parents stood at the bottom of the driveway.

Nowadays it seems like everyone has way too much candy left over.

I live in the sticks, so unless some raccoon or skunk decides to dress up like a pirate or that big butted Kardashian chick, I won't get any trick or treaters.
